Northlew Community Allotment Association
The Association was formed in 2009 to bring allotments to Northlew. They are now looking fabukous on the plot at the edge of the village next to Carmel Coaches depot. There are still one or two plots available to let for anyone interested in growing their own. There is now running water connected to the site too.
For more information contact Cathy Fethers on 01409 220276.
Northlew Amateur Dramatic Society
The society was formed in 2007 to produce a Pantomime for and starring members of the village. It was a huge success and now the group produce a Panto every year and have also put on two highly successful Murder Mystery Dinner events as well as a lifesize Punch and Judy show and an outside performance of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream! We really need more members so if you'd like to be involved either treading the boards or behind the scenes we would love to see you. We are currently rehearsing for our September production – Two comedies with dinner on September 24th 2011 in The Victory Hall. There will be details in next month's Northlew News.
For more information contact Chairman Rachel Richards on 01409 221973.

The cost is £1.50 per child for the session (babies under 1 year £1.00). Once a month there is a lunch for parents and children. Come along and share some time with other parents. All are welcome but parents need to stay to supervise their children. For more information contact Jade Hatt on 01409 220396 or 07527 554208.
Northlew Silver Band
The band was formed 100 years ago and is believed to be the only surviving village band in Devon. We currently have about 20 members and new recruits are always welcome. We practice every Wednesday at 8.00 in the bandroom that is situated in the yard behind the village hall. We play a wide range of music varying from classic marches and hymns through to modern chart music made popular by artists such as Robbie Williams, Westlife and Mariah Carey. Anyone interested in joining the band is welcome to come along to a practice.
For more information contact Martin Perry, Chairman on 01409 221376.

Friends of St. Thomas’ Church
While many people are happy to make a contribution to Church funds, not many realise that those funds are forwarded to the diocese in general.
Anyone who would like to contribute specifically to the upkeep and preservation of our own Parish Church could consider joining the Friends of St. Thomas’ Church (registered charity no. 1070123). You can become a member by making an annual subscription of £5.00 or more and, if you are a tax-payer, we can reclaim the tax paid.
For further information, contact the secretary Roger Atkinson (01409 221779) or the treasurer Ron Oldale (01409 221106).

The Snooker Club
Snooker has been played in the room at the side of the Victory Hall since the mid 1920s. Teams have played in the Okehampton and Bude leagues, winning on many occasions in both league and knockout competitions.
Today we are struggling to maintain one team of five players in the Bude League. It would be a great pity if the Snooker Club folded up so we are looking for new members. All would be welcome. Parents with children or older people who might be interested in playing snooker or helping to maintain the club are asked to contact Andy Wilkins (01409 221878) or John Spry (01409 221366).
